Sending e-mail


How do I send e-mail?

To send e-mail messages please do the following:

  1. Once you've logged into your account, click "Compose", above the box where your mail appears.
  2. Enter the recipient(s) e-mail address(es) in the Recipient: field. If you want to add more e-mail addresses, separate them with a comma. In order to send an e-mail, you must have at least one e-mail address in the Recipient: field.
  3. If you would like your message to be carbon copied or to other recipients, click "Add CC" under the Recipient: field. This will open a new field under which you can specify more recipients, and will have the same effect as having multiple addresses in the Recipient: field.
  4. If you would like your message to be blind carbon copied, click "Add Bcc" and add your recipients. Recipients of a Bcc message will be invisible to all other recipients of your message.
  5. In the subject line enter the subject of your message. It will be visible in the recipients' Inbox when your message is delivered. It's not necessary to enter something in the subject line.
  6. Type your message in the Message Box.
  7. To attach a file, click the "plus" (+) icon under Attachments on the left hand side of the window. Click "Browse" to find the file you want to attach and then click "Upload". Repeat for as many attachments as you need.
  8. Once you are done composing your message, click "Send the message now" underneath the message box.

How do I send a message to more than one recipient?

To send a message to more than one recipient, enter each e-mail address in the 'To' field and separate each address by using a comma ','. If a particular recipient is not the primary recipient of your message, you can enter that e-mail addresses in the 'CC:' or 'BCC' fields. Separate multiple addresses with a comma ','. Addresses entered in the 'BCC' field will not be visible by other recipients.

What are "CC" and "BCC"?

Cc stands for 'carbon copy'. Anyone who is listed in this field will receive a copy of the message that you send. Everyone in this list will be able to see who else received the e-mail message. Entering multiple addresses in the Recipient: field will have the same effect.

Bcc stands for 'blind carbon copy.' Addresses listed in the Bcc field will be 'blind' or invisible to other recipients. Just like in Cc, people listed in the Bcc field will receive a copy of the message that you send, but other recipients in the To: and Cc: field will not see the recipients in the Bcc field.

What if I want to send an urgent message?

Go to the Compose page and click the "Priority" drop-down list. Select the priority of your message.

What is largest message size I can send?

Messages cannot be larger than 12MB.

How do I send an attachment?

To attach a file, click the "plus" (+) icon under Attachments on the left hand side of the Compose page. Click "Browse" to find the file you want to attach and then click "Upload". Repeat for as many attachments as you need.

Can I retreive a sent message?

No. Once you have clicked the Send button, your message is already qeued for delivery. However, if you are unsure of whether or not you want to send your message, you can click "Save" on the Compose page to save a draft copy of your message. This will save your message in the "Drafts" folder without sending it, where you can change it and send it later.

How do I forward a message?

Select the message you want to forward from your Inbox. Click "Forward", above the message box. Add recipients in the same fashion as sending an original message. It is possible to make changes to the Subject: line. Add any additional comments above the "Original Message" line in the message text. When you are done making changes and are ready to send the message, click "Send the message now".

How do I forward a message with an attachment?

Follow the procedure for forwarding a message. Before you send the message, click the plus (+) button under Applications, next to the paperclip icon. Click "Browse" to find the file you want to attach and then click "Upload". Repeat for as many attachments as you need.

How do I save messages that I have sent?

All messages that you have sent are saved by default in the Sent folder.

How do I save an unfinished message?

Click "Save" on the Compose page to save a draft copy of your message. This will save your message in the "Drafts" folder without sending it, where you can change it and send it later.

I sent an e-mail, but the recipient did not receive it. What happened?
